The High Plains Drifters (HPD) fly fishing club, an Affiliate of the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF), was formed by a few dedicated fly fishing enthusiasts in March of 1991.  HPD members meet monthly to provide fishing and educational opportunities to our members.

 

The HPD Goals are:

  • Promote Fly Fishing.
  • Promote Friendliness and Fellowship Among Fellow Fly Fishers.
  • Promote Catch and Release Fishing.
  • Support the Goals of the Federation of Fly Fishers (FFF).
    • Conserving, Restoring, and Educating Through Fly Fishing

When most Colorado streams still blown out, the BAR ZX ranch is where it's happening folks. Fish for 18 species of trout. Some big enough to break a 3X leader. Read about the ranch and see more pics.

HPD meetings are held monthly on the third Wednesday of the month, except July and December. 
Meetings are open to all who would like to attend.

Jun 19th Kids Day

HPD members and local experts help kids learn about fly fishing. Events include fish identification, bug / entomology/ fly tying demonstrations / casting basics / practice casting with fly rods / fishing for trout, bluegill, bass or other pan fish / and the best part Lunch.  The event is held at the Kassler Environmental Education Center with fishing at nearby Lake Lehow. Children must be registered and accompanied by a parent or guardian.
